1 Hare Court acted on both sides of the High Court decision of THR v WAT [2025] EWHC 1125 (Fam). Nicholas Yates KC and Christian Kenny, instructed by Vardags, represented the applicant wife. Justin Warshaw KC and Joshua Viney, instructed by Mishcon de Reya LLP, represented the respondent husband.
Much of the case was settled and the decision addresses the remaining residual points between the parties. It is a rare example of the court addressing child maintenance in circumstances where the resources were c £70 million and where the husband had very high historic earnings (c £14 – £76 million in recent years), so significantly higher than the James v Seymour £650,000 figure.
