With just 24 hours to go until Maggie’s Lock Up The Lawyers event, we regret to inform you that Steve McCrone is officially in custody… or at least preparing for it.
The charges? Serious, if entirely fabricated.
Steve stands accused of being a ‘serial senior clerk impersonator’, with allegations including:

- 35 years in chambers (can’t be true – look at him!)

- Receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2025 (surely 1 Hare Court deserves an award for putting up with him that long?)

- Winning Senior Clerk of the Year Award 2025 (did no one else enter?)
All jokes aside, the event promises to be a brilliantly entertaining fundraiser in support of Maggie’s, a charity providing free practical and emotional support to people living with cancer, as well as their friends and families.
Following the success of last year’s courtroom-style fundraiser, this year’s event will once again bring together members of the legal profession for an evening of comedy, mock prosecutions and light-hearted legal chaos – all while raising money for an important cause.
