After 44 incredible years at 1 Hare Court, we say a warm and heartfelt farewell to Nicholas Carden, who is retiring from the Bar. Nicholas was called in July 1981 and has been a hugely valued member of Chambers ever since.
Over the years, he has built a reputation not only as a brilliant lawyer but as a kind and generous colleague. His wisdom, calm presence, and sharp legal mind have made him a go-to figure for so many of us, whether inside or outside of court.
Nicholas has played a big part in shaping the culture of Chambers – always generous with his time, always ready to lend support, and always leading by quiet example. His contribution has gone far beyond the cases he’s worked on.
We will miss his insight, his humour, and his friendship – but after more than four decades at the Bar, he has more than earned a relaxing (and hopefully very enjoyable) retirement.
From all of us at 1 Hare Court: thank you, Nicholas, and all the very best for what comes next.
